Sounds like all the more the name Sanjaya means a winner because based on the short epic-reference, the character was highly & divinely privileged. In reality, looks like Sanjaya had indeed overcome staggering out-of-bounds comments & have consistently emerged with very dignified responses and conduct.

Sanjay or Sanjaya does not mean Winner, It is a name of Hindu mythical character who had "divine vision", the ability to see events happening in the war of Mahabharata and relate it to his King who was blind. Becasue of his vision he was the only other person other than Arjun, who was able to see GOD who appeared to give the learnings of "Gita", the holiest scripture of Hindus.
